The mandate of Friends of TPL is to fund high-need library programs and services; promote the mission, vision, and needs of the Library to the public; and stimulate interest in Library collections, facilities, and services.
How We Support TPL
Friends of TPL raises funds by offering annual memberships, operating booksales, and running two used bookstores, BOOKEnds North and BOOKEnds South.
Everyone involved with Friends of TPL is a volunteer; we have no paid employees. Money raised is donated to support TPL programs and services.
South Chapter Fundraises in Support of the Following TPL Programs:
- Our Fragile Planet Environmental Education Series
- Young Voices Magazine
- Elementary School Outreach
- Career Coaches in Residence Program
In addition, South Chapter proudly funded the elimination of late fees for TPL’s children’s materials in 2021.

Land Acknowledgement
Toronto Public Library is situated on Indigenous land and Dish with One Spoon territory. This is the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Wendat, and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Toronto Public Library gratefully acknowledges these Indigenous nations for their guardianship of this land.
